About Eleanor Yung: I have been teaching taichi more than 10 years. The form I teach is called the Neigong taichi, or Qigong taichi, or the Ancient form, as taught to me by the late Master Koo. As you can see from its name, it involves Qigong, and is a Neigong martial art form. It has some similarity with the Yang style, but it is not the same. The purpose of my teaching is to enhance health, and to prevent the onset of illness. It has helped some students to reverse adverse conditions.

I believe in self empowerment, and the practice of taichi puts our health in our own hands. As we gain more control of our own health, medical intervention need not be the only resource we rely on to maintain good health. The practice of taichi is not only healthy, it also increases energy, and therefore productivity. Most practitioners will develop the energy to do many of the things they have wanted to do, but did not have the energy to do them. I also find the practice of taichi helps in lifting my spirit, improving my outlook, and bringing me happiness.

It may be a bit challenging in the beginning to learning something new. But it is never too late to start. As we practice regularly, the benefits compound and the practice becomes truly enjoyable each time.

I also teach at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for staff and volunteers, the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and at the Asian American Arts Centre. I am also a licensed acupuncturist, and see patients at Longevity Health in NYC.
