AAAC ARTIST ARCHIVE
Asian American Arts Centre invites artists to submit current visual materials
for review for the Arts Centre's exhibition program and selection into the AAAC
Artist Archive. We encourage artists of Asian ancestry and artists significantly
influenced by Asia including mixed-race persons to submit. Emerging new media or
video artists throughout the United States are also welcome.
AAAC Artist Archive is one of the largest historical archives on this subject.
The physical archive consists of about 1500 entries of artists' materials,
including biographical materials, publications, statements, project plans,
reviews, exhibition materials (press releases, fliers, etc.), catalogs,
taped interviews, and samples of works in slides, photographs and/or digital files.
It documents Asian American art over the last 60+ years. The archive enables the
development of AAAC exhibitions, and has been used by publishers, curators, art
consultants, community organizations as well as international facilities.
AAAC Artist Archive was chosen as one of the
Asian/Pacific American Archives Survey
participants, the project at New York University.
Portions of the physical archive are available to the public on Asian American Arts Centre's
new digital archive website artasiamerica.org.
Many more artists will continue to be added for the next few years.
The materials in the physical AAAC Artist Archive will be available for viewing by
appointment and on a sliding scale fee depending on current conditions.
